A shot of Tranquility

Outside of our own busy and chaotic lives, out there in the lap of nature there lies tranquility, where there are no worries, there is no hurry , there is no unrest , there is no insecurity, there is no competition, there are no fears, there are no deadlines, there are no ego’s, there are no comparisons, there are no differences, there is nothing to lose or gain everything stands still and the only sound you can hear is the sound of meadows, chirping birds, whistling woods & burbling of river.

It’s just you and the enchanting nature, which is trying to makes a direct connection with your soul. You become aware and alive and you begin to touch & feel the moments, and the sky is the only limit (in literal terms), there are thousands of stars up there, showering bliss on you. and you feel like keeping your eyes wide open, so that you won’t miss this moment even for a second. Nature talks to you not in terms of words but in terms of experience, feelings, bliss, love, compassion and peace. And the moment you start experiencing nature’s bliss you’ll realize how perfect is everything in the lap of nature.

And in the midst of nature’s beauty surrounded by ferns, blossoming sunflower, deodar trees and blooming dandelions. I am sitting under the deep blue sky thinking about what have we done to our lives, why are we choosing to replace beautiful nature with concrete buildings, why are we choosing to replace Jungles with pollution emitting factories, why are we choosing to replace trees with Skyscrapers. Which also means that we are choosing pollution over fresh air, choosing destruction over resurrection, choosing death over Life. Why?

The answer to this why came to me instantaneously, the reason to this is that we have been steadily turning away from nature and somehow we are following a highly flawed definition of civilization and development, We have been mindlessly cutting jungles to make a home for ourselves, we are constantly ruining the natural habitat, We have filled the landscape and oceans with enormous amount plastic that’s isn’t going to be decomposed for another thousands of years. Thousand of birds and animals are suffering and dying everyday due to this plastic pollution. Marine life is already endangered due to tremendous oil spills occurring in oceans. This be going to have a catastrophic consequence on our lives and the lives of our children.

Now the question is, do we have a solution to this? can we rollback the damage done to the environment? can we reverse global warming ? can we reduce carbon footprints? can we reduce pollution ? can we get fresh air to breathe? can we take control of our lives and the lives of our children?

The good news is that the answer is yes, There are many ways and means to curb this menace that we have created. At a high level these could be.

  • Use of renewable energy sources.
  • Stop fishing and instead adding fish to the sea .
  • Afforestation by evenly distributing seeds using helicopters and drone’s as medium.
  • Shutting down all thermal Power stations permanently.
  • Stop all kinds of mining.
  • Stop producing plastic completely.

However even an individual level or a group or community level as well, we still can take small baby steps to control pollution and make a difference to our lives and the lives of our children’s by :-

  • Completely stopping the use of plastic.
  • Switching-over to cycling for covering small distances.
  • Using carpool or public transport for office travel.
  • Reduce,reuse and recycle.
  • Support afforestation by planting seed bombs.

Planting seed bombs is one of the most easy and effective way to curb pollution and can be done at an individual group, or community level as well. Here is a You-tube video explaining the concept of seed bombs by Lets Plant Gurugram a passionate group of green warriors who are trying their best to contribute to envoirment.

“One of the best gifts we can give future generations are trees”

Here are few lines from Heal the world anthem from Michael Jackson’s Dangerous Album (1991) about improving the world’s circumstances, and these lines are still and will always be relevant.

“Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make it a better place
For you and for me…..”

This is high time that we start repaying mother nature by taking a pledge to preserve nature by planting more trees and stop axing the existing one’s, by taking plastic out of our lives completely, by making minimal use of bio-fuels, by following reduce, reuse and recycle, by going green.

If each one of us takes an initiative to save the mother earth than I am sure we shall definitely be able to make this world a better place for entire human race and for the generations to come.

Hoping for a greener and better tomorrow for all of us.

  2. Thanks for bringing the problems together to enlighten the society. We are actually damaging our surrounding just in the name of development. The blog not only details on the problems but only gives solution as well. The problem i see here for some is missing Govt and Society engagement. Govt’s should need to engage society to give these initiatives the missing momentum. Appreciate your small initiatives like Seed Bombs to bring change.
